Our Teen Self-Defence program empowers youth ages 13–17 with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to navigate the world with confidence. These classes go beyond physical techniques—they’re about developing awareness, assertiveness, and the ability to recognize and respond to unsafe situations.

Each class follows a structured, engaging format:

  • Safety Chat: We begin with meaningful discussions on self-defence concepts and real-life scenarios. Topics include Canadian laws around using physical self-defence, situational awareness, recognizing red flag behaviour, and using verbal strategies to de-escalate conflict.
  • Dynamic Warm-Up: Movement-based warm-ups get teens physically and mentally ready to train while building coordination, strength, and stamina.
  • Fitness Training: Every class includes focused fitness work to improve strength, endurance, agility, and coordination. Teens develop physical confidence through consistent progress, all in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Skills & Drills: Teens learn practical, effective self-defence techniques tailored to their age group. Through partner drills and scenario-based training, they build the muscle memory and confidence to respond under pressure.

At Empowered Defence Centre, we believe teens are capable of learning serious skills while still having fun. Our classes strike the right balance between real-world preparation and an encouraging, inclusive environment—helping teens feel strong, safe, and empowered in their everyday lives.

Full Level 1 Program

With regular attendance, you can expect to complete Level 1 in as little as 3 months before qualifying to advance to Level 2.

Making the commitment to complete the entire Level 1 Program up front entitles you to twice-a-week classes and an unlimited time frame to complete the program (great to accommodate travel, illness/injury, or an inconsistent schedule).

This tier also includes a free uniform t-shirt ($25 value), access to Open Gym times, and a 20% discount on all of our periphery programs (camps, seminars, workshops) as long as the student has attended at least one class in the last month.

Monthly Plan

If you’re not quite ready to commit to the full Level 1 Program, take it month-by-month, with options to pause your membership at any time. Monthly Plans start on the 1st of each calendar month.

This plan entitles you to twice-a-week classes, includes a free uniform t-shirt with your first month ($25 value), access to Open Gym times, and a 10% discount on all of our periphery programs (camps, seminars, workshops).

Drop-In Passes

If you want to take things day-by-day, you are welcome to purchase drop-in passes for just the classes you are able to attend.

You will still require a uniform shirt, which can be purchased for $25 plus tax, and you are welcome to utilize our open gym times at a rate of $5 plus tax per visit.
