Our Self-Defence Classes will prepare you both mentally and physically for the fight of your life
Tiny Tigers
Mondays and Thursdays at 4:30pm (30min)
Ages 3-5
Give your kids a head start on their training with this 30 minute foundational-fun class.
Through the power of play, students will learn movement patterns, skills, and simple techniques that will prepare them for their training.
Kids Self-Defence Classes
Mondays and Thursdays beginning at 5:00PM (60min)
Ages 6-12
Self-defence doesn’t have to be a scary topic – we make it fun!
Our kids classes are a blend of technique training and dynamic movement games that keep your child engaged while learning life-saving skills.
Teen Self-Defence Classes
Tuesdays and Fridays beginning at 6:00PM
Ages 13-17
As kids transition from childhood to adults, self-defence becomes an essential skill to being able to defend oneself. Our techniques and training drills are designed to challenge teens to reach their peak potential in all areas – strength, speed, power, endurance, and agility are all pushed to the limit.
Adult Self-Defence Classes
Wednesdays beginning at 5:00PM and Saturdays beginning at 9:00AM
Ages 18+
It’s never too late to learn how to defend yourself. Our effective techniques and training drills will help you to feel confident and safe. Of particular importance is your ability to stay fit and mobile through all years of your life. Mobility and strength both decrease over time if we don’t train it, so these are key players in our curriculum.
We have pricing options for all budgets
Drop-In Pass
$15/class for Kids, Teens and Adults
$7.50/class for Tiny Tigers
*only available for Level 1 students and Tiny Tigers
Monthly Registration
$100/month (approx. $12.50/class) for Level 1 Kids, Teens and Adults
$50/month for Tiny Tigers
Includes bi-weekly classes, free access to open gym practice times, and a 10% discount on any specialty/guest seminars

Full Program Registration
$300 for Level 1
Level 1 takes a minimum of 3 months to complete before qualifying to progress to Level 2, but this option allows you to take as long as needed, without needing to pay for additional months of training. This option is ideal for students who are committed to their training.
Includes bi-weekly classes, free access to open gym practice times, and a 20% discount on any specialty/guest seminars

What you need to know before your first class:
When you book your FREE TRIAL class, you will be sent a Level 1 Information Package, as well as a Registration Form and Waiver. Please read the Information Package and complete the registration form and waiver prior to your first class.
Wear comfortable workout attire, and bring indoor shoes to train in. Clean, indoor-only shoes are mandatory while training in order to keep our space safe and clean for everyone.
Bring a water bottle. You will be working hard!
OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY:
Before, you had to choose between traditional martial arts training and one-off self-defence seminars if you wanted to learn how to protect yourself.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. Let’s compare them.
PROS OF TRADITIONAL MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING:
1. Emphasizes repetition-over-time and a variety of drills to instill muscle-memory of techniques
2. Progressive levels to continue to challenge you and help you grow as a martial artist
CONS OF TRADITIONAL MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING:
1. Techniques are limited by the style of the martial art (ie. only striking, only grappling)
2. Spending hours training techniques that may be practical for the sport, but aren’t practical for self-defence
PROS OF ONE-OFF SELF-DEFENCE SEMINARS
1. Teaches only skills and techniques that are most practical for self-defence
2. Requires much less commitment than training to earn a black belt
CONS OF ONE-OFF SELF-DEFENCE SEMINARS
1. Lots of techniques thrown at you all at once means your brain will only be able to remember a few of them afterwards
2. Doesn’t develop muscle-memory or the ability to recall these techniques under stress

Head Instructor – Sarah Williams
Sarah has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, a Black Belt in Goju-Ryu Karate, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for seven years, with specialized training in Domestic Violence.
During her time with the RCMP, Sarah made an effort to connect with the communities she policed by teaching self-defence to over 300 people via seminars and school programs. She found a common theme in the feedback:
“This was amazing! But how can I practice these things moving forward? I feel like I’m going to forget everything!”
Recognizing that not everyone has years and years to dedicate to formal martial arts programs, Sarah developed EMPOWERED DEFENCE CENTRE to help people master these life-saving skills efficiently and effectively. And have fun while building confidence along the way!
