Our Adult Self-Defence program is designed to build real-world skills in a supportive, no-intimidation environment. Whether you’re brand new to self-defence or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will help you build confidence, physical capability, and the mindset to respond effectively in unsafe situations.
Each class is structured to challenge and empower you:
- Safety Chat: We begin with practical discussions around self-defence principles and everyday safety. Topics include Canadian Laws on use of self-defence, situational awareness, recognizing early warning signs, and verbal strategies to prevent or de-escalate conflict.
- Dynamic Warm-Up: A movement-based warm-up gets your body ready to train and your mind focused, while helping improve mobility and coordination.
- Fitness Training: Each class includes functional fitness elements that build strength, endurance, agility, and body control. You’ll get fitter while training with purpose—no pressure, just progress.
- Skills & Drills: Learn effective, proven self-defence techniques through structured instruction, partner drills, and scenario-based training. Our focus is on practical skills you can actually use, taught in a way that meets you where you’re at.
At Empowered Defence Centre, we believe self-defence should be accessible, empowering, and engaging. You don’t need to be an athlete or martial artist to start—just bring your willingness to learn, and we’ll help you build the skills to feel stronger, safer, and more confident in your everyday life.

Pricing Options for Level 1
Full Level 1 Program
With regular attendance, you can expect to complete Level 1 in as little as 3 months before qualifying to advance to Level 2.
Making the commitment to complete the entire Level 1 Program up front entitles you to twice-a-week classes and an unlimited time frame to complete the program (great to accommodate travel, illness/injury, or an inconsistent schedule).
This tier also includes a free uniform t-shirt ($25 value), access to Open Gym times, and a 20% discount on all of our periphery programs (camps, seminars, workshops) as long as the student has attended at least one class in the last month.
$300 plus tax
Monthly Plan
If you’re not quite ready to commit to the full Level 1 Program, take it month-by-month, with options to pause your membership at any time. Monthly Plans start on the 1st of each calendar month.
This plan entitles you to twice-a-week classes, includes a free uniform t-shirt with your first month ($25 value), access to Open Gym times, and a 10% discount on all of our periphery programs (camps, seminars, workshops).
$100 plus tax
Drop-In Passes
If you want to take things day-by-day, you are welcome to purchase drop-in passes for just the classes you are able to attend.
You will still require a uniform shirt, which can be purchased for $25 plus tax, and you are welcome to utilize our open gym times at a rate of $5 plus tax per visit.
